There is some practical logic behind this idea.
A guest could sit at the end of the bed while wearing shoes, potentially placing their feet on the runner rather than directly on the duvet.
But it would be too strong to say that every hotel installs a runner specifically for this reason.
Hotels use different bedding designs, and the purpose can vary from one property to another.
For some hotels, the runner may be almost entirely decorative.
For others, it may provide a convenient protective surface as well.
Why Do Hotels Choose Such Bold Patterns?
There’s a practical design reason for that too.
Hotel rooms often use neutral colors for large items such as walls, carpets, curtains, and bedding.
Neutral colors are versatile and create a calm atmosphere.
A patterned runner provides an opportunity to introduce stronger colors without making the entire room feel busy.
It can also be changed relatively easily when a hotel updates its decor.
Should You Remove It Before Sleeping?
