Nostredame, better known as Nostradamus, was born in France in 1503.
He became famous for Les Prophéties, a collection of hundreds of four-line verses published in the 16th century.
The writings are deliberately obscure. They contain references to historical figures, places, disasters, wars, celestial events, and other subjects, often using unusual language and symbolism.
Because the verses are so vague, readers have been able to connect them to many different events long after they occurred.
That’s a major reason the predictions remain popular today.
