She Drank the Juice of Six Lemons Every Morning to “Detox” Her Body—Here’s What You Should Know
Lemon water has become one of the most popular morning health rituals.
Some people drink it because they enjoy the refreshing taste. Others believe it can “flush toxins,” burn fat, improve digestion, or give the body a fresh start each morning.
But one viral health story takes the habit much further: drinking the juice of six lemons every morning.
While lemons can certainly be part of a healthy diet, more is not necessarily better. Drinking large amounts of concentrated lemon juice every day may actually create problems—particularly for your teeth and digestive system.
Do You Really Need a Morning “Detox”?
The word detox sounds appealing, but your body already has sophisticated systems for processing and removing waste.
Your liver and kidneys perform these functions continuously. There is little evidence that drinking a special lemon mixture is necessary to “clean” your body.
That doesn’t mean lemon water is useless.
Adding a modest amount of lemon to water can make it more enjoyable, which may encourage some people to drink more water throughout the day.
The benefit may therefore come primarily from better hydration, rather than from a special detoxifying effect.
